Tanzania v/s Invitation XI

Date: 29th August 2008

Tanzania played its last tour match against Invitation XI at West Harrow Club, after cancelling its last match against Birmingham West Indians due to unavoidable circumstances. A late start meant the overs reduced to 30 overs. Coach Zully Rehemtullah rested the opening bowler and Skipper Hamisi Abdallah and Khalil Rehemtullah after a successful tour.

Bhavesh Govind the stand in Captain lost the toss and Tanzania were put in the field. Benson Mwita and Hasnain Damji took over the responsibilities of the two duo opening bowlers who were rested and bowled a descent opening spell of 26 in the first 9 overs.

Once again the Tanzanian spinners Athumani Kakonzi, Shaheed Dhanani, Abhik Patwa and Bhavesh Govind picked up 2 wickets each to restrict the Invitation XI to a score of 134 runs in their 30 allotted overs.

In reply the Tanzanian tried a new opening pair of Rashidi Amri and Nasibu Kelvin who didn’t disappoint the coach Zully Rehemtulla’s experiment by giving the Tanzanians a good stand, followed by a good partnership between Rishen Patel and Shaheed Dhanani who took the score to 106 before Shaheed was caught at mid on, Athumani Kakonzi and Kassimu Nassoro finished the game to reach the target in 22nd over.

This was Tanzania’s last game to conclude the tour, Coach Zully was satisfied with the players performance, but there are some minor areas that need to be worked on before the main event in October.
