Team Tanzania Jets off to UK

The Tanzania Cricket Team left for UK today to play 6 build up games as their final preparations for the ICC World Cricket League Division 4 to be hosted in Bologna, Italy from the 14th – 21st August 2010.

Five of their six games in UK have been organized by The Watford Town Cricket Club who have been associated with the Tanzania Cricket Association for the last 2 years.  The Tanzania Cricket Association highly appreciates the strong support from the Watford Town Cricket Club for the development of the game in Tanzania.

All the 5 games will be played at the Watford Town Cricket Club as follows:

Regional Invitation X1 or Combined Services v Tanzania                     2nd August

Club Cricket Conference v Tanzania                                                 3rd August

Hertfordshire v Tanzania                                                                  4th August

Sussex 2  v Tanzania                                                                      5th August

MCC v Tanzania                                                                              6th August

The Cricket Week has been programmed and well publicized amongst the Watford Local community and we expect to have an eventful week.

The sixth and the last game will be played at Leicester against the Countesthrope Cricket Club at their club ground on the 8th of August.

Left arm leg spinner and top order batsmen Athmani Kakonzi will unfortunately miss out on this event, as he has recently undergone a Hernia surgery. However, this opens the doors for a 19-year old left arm leg spinner Harsh Ramaiya, who is eagerly waiting to exploit this situation and cement his place in the senior team.

These build up games in UK will assist the Tanzanian players in gaining experience and adopt themselves with the European conditions.
