Tanzania wins its first game of
the UK tour Tanzania won the toss and elected to bat first scoring 161 which was indeed a very low score considering the quality of the Middlesex XI players, most of whom have played in the premier league and counties. Tanzania had a very good start while batting with top order partnerships between Abhik Patwa and Enjo Sethi to excel the score to 60 for the loss of 1 wicket in the first 10 overs, after their dismissal the middle order totally collapsed. Issa Kikasi who went in to bat at number eight when the score was 112 for 7 held the innings together to reach the Tanzanian tally of 161.
Tanzania did not give up hopes and fought back very strongly to defend their low score to win their first game, by dismissing the whole Middlesex XI batting line for 138 runs in 42 overs. A brilliant and discipline bowling spell from the 19 year old left arm leg spinner Harsh Ramaiya ripped through the Middlesex XI batting order by taking 6 wickets in his spell of 10 overs and conceding only 12 runs.
