Tanzania thrash Ugandans in the finals

The Tanzanian women's Cricket team have won the Africa Women's Cricket Tournament after silencing the Ugandans with an eight wicket defeat at the Annadil Burhani Ground.

The home team's aggressive bowling and outstanding fielding sent the Ugandans very early back to the pavilion. After the Ugandans Captain Barbra Mukankasi won the toss and elected to bat first, Uganda were all out with only 50 runs on the board, as their innings lasted only 26 overs.

The visitors batters failed to produce double digit score as the Tanzanians bowled wisely to restrict them from accumulating runs.

The highest scorer for Uganda was Jackie Nakiito who managed to score only seven runs off 56 balls. Tanzania's right aarm medium pace bowler, Fatuma Omary terrorized the Ugandans as she took three quick wickets and assisted in two run outs.

In reply to Uganda's target, the victors managed to chase and dropped only two wickets after 13 overs. Opening bat Anjelina Mwambalulu was the highest scorer for the Tanzanian team as she scored 21 runs off 23 balls, while Hadija Nasib scored 10 runs off 20 balls.

The duo were however bowled out out, only to let in the partnership of Banali and Monica Pascal, who each scored 5 runs not out to the end of the match.

"It was very easy match for us contrary to what we had expected earlier. My girls just played their game and were determined to secure the victory", said the Tanzanian Team Manager - Eunice Moyo.

The Ugandan coach, William Kamayi, had this to say on the defeat: "The damage done earlier when we lost the top order bat quickly".

According to the Tanzania Cricket Association Chairman Mr. Zully Rehmtullah who initiated this tournament said that more countries have shown interest to participate in the next years tournament which will be staged in Kenya.
