Opening Ceremony of the Under 19 World Cup Qualifiers
The Under 19 Cricket World Cup Qualifier tournament was officially opened today at the United Cricket Club ground in Windhoek, Namibia. In a colorful ceremony attended and witnessed by the representatives of ICC and officials from the Namibia Sports Commission.
Eight teams namely Fiji, Kenya, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and host Namibia paraded in their National attires. The Tanzanian team which was led by the Captain Benson Mwita impressed the spectators with their discipline and smart presentation. Every team had to sing their National Anthem during their flag hosting ceremony.
A colorful display by the secondary school girls in a Gymnastic parade attracted the attraction of the crowd. After the closing ceremony the young Tanzanian side did not hesitate to interact and make friends with other participating team players and posed for photographs with them,
The team Coach and Manager were hopeful that the young Tanzanian side will try their best to give a formidable performance. The tournament begins on 04/10/2003 with Tanzania playing with the Host Namibia at the United Cricket Ground.
