4th consecutive loss by Tanzania Under 19
After finishing 4th in Group 'B', Tanzania were scheduled to play against the 3rd position team in Group 'A' Zambia, in the plate semi finals played at the Police Cricket Ground in Windhoek-Namibia on 08/10/2003.
The Zambian team won the toss and put Tanzania to bat first. Tanzanian players batting first were vulnerable to the opening spin attack of Safraz Patel who took 5 Tanzanian wickets with Tanzanian team managing to score 134 runs in 47 overs.
The last 4 lower order batsman put up 100 runs when Tanzanian at one stage were 34 for 6. The tournaments record 8th wicket partnership between Hatim Kudrati and Athumani Kakonzi put 51 runs, which was the only hallmark achievement for Tanzania.
Chasing 134 runs, the Zambians managed to achieve the target of 135 runs in 42.2 overs. The second wicket partnership between Isaac Mwaba and Madliso Mvula put up a record tournament partnership of 92 and saw the Zambians a place in the finals of the plate event which would determine the 5th/6th position on the ICC seeding.
Tanzania is placed at the bottom of the League Table and will play FIJI which lost to Nigeria in the other plate semi finals. The last time Tanzania played Fiji was in the round robin match in Group 'B' on 05/10/2003 and Fiji beat Tanzania. Tanzania will try to avenge the defeat against Fiji and put itself at least a consolation 7th place if they manage to secure a victory tomorow.
