Tanzania fares bad in the opener of the ICC Under 19 World Cup Qualifier against Namibia

The Tanzania Under 19 Cricket National Team had a bad start in the opening game of Group B against Namibia Under 19. Tanzania Under 19 Captain Benson Mwita won the toss and elected to bat, the top order batsman failed to perform as expected, losing 6 quick wickets in 10 overs with the score of 34. With only Hussein Mohammed who bravely stood against the Namibian bowlers. He ran out of partners and remained not out on 25 of 60 balls.

The lower order batsman did show some resistance and eventually scored 84 all out in 31 overs. The Namibian Under 19 team lost 2 quick wickets in the first 4 overs with the score at 8 runs, their Captain Hugo Ludick and Herman Steytler took control of the game and surpassed the Tanzanian total of 84 runs, scoring 85 runs in 17.4 overs.

This defeat puts Tanzania Under 19 Team into a tight spot and will have to win all their remaining 2 games i.e. against Fiji on 05/10/2003 and Kenya on 06/10/2003 to qualify for the semi finals.
