Tanzania wins comfortably against Argentina

Tanzania’s first game against Argentina which was washed out was rescheduled today on the second rest/reserve day. Argentina winning the toss elected to bat first and played the duo seamers Khalil Rehemtulla and Benson Mwita of Tanzania defensively to defend early fall of wickets which has been Tanzania team’s trademark, however the spinners Kassim Nassoro (6 wkt), Riziki Kiseto (2 wkt) and Harsh Ramaiya (1 wkt) ripped through the Argentinean batting line up. Paterlini (26) and Dugmore (44) contributed and held their innings to put a respectable total of 198 on the scoreboard.

In reply Tanzania had a shaky start by losing 2 wickets in the first 2 overs for only 1 run, but a fantastic knock from Left handed opening batsmen Seif Khalifa who scored a magnificent 72 of 41 balls in partnership with Issa Kikasi taking the Tanzanian score to 97 in the first 15 overs.  After Khalifa’s dismissal Tanzania lost 5 more wickets cheaply and were 126/7 in the 26th over. A stable 72 run partnership from the duo seamers Benson Mwita and Khalil Rehemtulla proved their ability with the bat and took Tanzania to a comfortable victory, this indeed was their all round performance.

Kassim Nassoro won his second man of the match award for his 6 wickets haul out of the three contenders for the man of the match Seif Khalifa, Benson Mwita and Kassim Nassoro. This has put him in contention for the man of the series award.

Coach Zully Rehemtulla said he is very happy with the overall performance of the boys and they have been playing according to the game plan. The game against Italy tomorrow is very crucial and the boys have to maintain their winning consistency if they want to keep their qualifying dreams alive.
