    DEVELOPMENT REPORT FEB 2006 TO MAY 2006

 

 

DOMESTIC LEAGUE:

The annually played 20/20 league started on the 5th March 06 with eight teams participating in two groups in a round robin with semi finals and finals. Academy boys earned a ticket to the finals on 30th April 06 against Anadil Burhani Club and won the championship with and unbeaten record.

 

 

 

 

2005     CRICKET AWARDS:

Tanzania Cricket Association held its 2005 Cricket Awards day on the 30th April 06 during trophy presentation of the 20/20 finals. It was a privilege that this occasion was graced by Sheik Muslim Kismayuwala of Anadil Burhani Club.

A panel of four judges made their decision after scrutinizing player’s statistics of their performance for the year 2005. The awards were as follows:

1. 2005 Best Batter – Abhik Patwa – HS 119 v/s Union Sport Club

2. 2005 Best Bowler – Khalil Rehemtulla – 20 wks Mwl Nyerere League

3. 2005 Best all Rounder – Hamisi Abdalla – with very good consistency 

    in all the department of the game i.e batting, bowling and fielding.

4. 2005 best cricket sport writer – Nasongeleya Kilinyiga – Daily News

 

 

 

HOSTING ICC WCQS AFRICA REGION PHASE TWO:

 

Tanzania has commended ICC for providing the opportunity to host the WCQS Africa region phase two, which will definitely motivate the cricket fraternity and enhance cricket structure and standard in Tanzania for a brighter future.

 TCA executive committee has appointed Mr. Taher Kitisa as the tournament coordinator for the event and all the members of its sub committees are on their toes in arranging all the necessary preparation for the event. TCA appreciates financial assistance of $10000/- out of $35000/-  by the ICC Africa development office for upgrading the existing Astro Turf wickets to an international standard grass wicket at two venues i.e Anadil Burhani grounds and the  University of Dar es salaam Ground for the event. Local contractor in conjunction with two wickets expert from Kenya i.e Mr. Komu and Mr, Geoffrey have already completed the laying of the wickets to meet the date of the event. The tournament shall commence from 15th to 20th August 2006.

 

 

 

 

DEVELOPMENT:

In April Tanzania was awarded the ICC global development award for the year 2005 for the best women’s cricket initiative due to its sound on going development program. In lieu of winning this award we would express our sincere appreciation to KOOKA BUR        `RA COMPANY for their generous offer for providing a $1000/- voucher to purchase cricket equipment of our choice which be useful to us.

 

Zully Rehemtulla and Taher Kitisa attended the ACA AGM and a two day development seminar in J’burg, S.Africa on the 29th and 30th April 2006, organized by ICC development office Africa. The seminar was attended by 25 delegates comprising of all ICC associate and affiliated members from all over Africa including the ICC global manager Mr. Mathew Kennedy

 

TCA development incharge Zully Rehemtulla assisted by Taher Kitisa organized a development seminar on 31st May 06, from 9.00 am to 5.30pm at the Muhimbili cricket academy.  The seminar was attended by 20 level I and level II development officers. The discussions for the seminar were,

1.     Strategy and planning to enhance the development program.

2.     Development officers to be keen and should emphasis on the fundamentals of all departments of the game while coaching in order to produce quality players.

3.     Marketing and promotion of the development program.

4.     Opinion and views from all participating candidates.

5.     Summarizing and concluding.

The seminar was very fruitful and an eye opener, especially when every candidate was given the opportunity to express their opinion and learning more from each other and giving them all a proper understanding and a better vision in the whole process of the on going development program in Tanzania.
